I wove LEDs in my wristers!

:: FEATURED BY CRAFT ON AUGUST 6th, 2014: http://makezine.com/craft/cable-wristers-with-leds ::

About a month ago I made a pair of wristers with Lion Brand’s Martha Stewart Glitter Ribbon and a slightly modified version of the Grace Cable Boot Cuffs pattern. Although I liked how they turned out, I felt they needed something more … buttons, beads, embroidery … something. Then one day it hit me, LEDs!

So I hopped onto Amazon to research LEDs with small battery packs and found these “Fairy Moon Lights” and they turned out to be perfect!

I showed them off all weekend at the Knit and Crochet Show in Manchester, NH and they were a hit! Now I’m thinking about my next LED project …

    Was this with some type of arduino kit? Very cool, I have a 17 yr old who would love this if I made her some for Christmas!

    Hi Sally, it’s not a kit – I just made it up. All the links/info are in the post. Thanks for your comment.

    Great wristers – looks fabulous! Did the spacing of the LEDs on the wire match your row gauge or was some “fudging” required (if yes, how & do you have pictures)? Where is the battery pack hidden and does it compromise the comfort of the wristers? Can you comment on the durability of the fairy moon lights in a wearable?

    Thanks for sharing – I’m really inspired!
