I Wove LED Lights Into My Knitted Wristers!

I Wove LED Lights Into My Knitted Wristers!

:: FEATURED BY CRAFT ON AUGUST 6th, 2014: http://makezine.com/craft/cable-wristers-with-leds ::

I knit a pair of wristers and although I liked how they turned out, I felt they needed something more … buttons, beads, embroidery … something. Then one day it hit me, LEDs!

So I hopped onto Amazon to research LEDs with small battery packs and found these “Fairy Moon Lights” and they turned out to be perfect!

There is a pattern here, a pattern I developed when I worked at Lion Brand, but you definitely will want to use a different yarn than what’s suggested in the pattern. The yarn I used in the original protoype design, as seen here on this post, was Martha Stewart Glitter Ribbon Yarn, now no longer manufactured. You might be able to find some on Etsy, but if not that specific yarn, find a ribbon-type yarn that holds a shape – something stiffer than regular yarn.

    Is there a Crochet pattern or something similar?

    Was this with some type of arduino kit? Very cool, I have a 17 yr old who would love this if I made her some for Christmas!

      Hi Sally, it’s not a kit – I just made it up. All the links/info are in the post. Thanks for your comment.

    Great wristers – looks fabulous! Did the spacing of the LEDs on the wire match your row gauge or was some “fudging” required (if yes, how & do you have pictures)? Where is the battery pack hidden and does it compromise the comfort of the wristers? Can you comment on the durability of the fairy moon lights in a wearable?

    Thanks for sharing – I’m really inspired!

    wow…so cool, where did the battery pack go?
