“We’re All Friends Here,” a machine-knit street art installation by Sam Meech with Marilène Gaudet

As part of Montreal’s Common Space? project this past October, “We’re All Friends Here” was a collaboration between video / machine-knittng artist Sam Meech (United Kingdom) and yarnbomber Marilène Gaudet (Canada).

Sam Meech presents a series of works reflecting the experiences of downtown Montrealers and casts a critical eye on the role of the arts in a changing urban environment. Through interviews and a visual search of the Quartier des Spectacles, he records and creatively reimagines the ideas, experiences and iconography of those who live there, in the form of traditional jacquard knits. – Quartier Des Spectacles Montreal
