If you’re like me, you dislike loose ends – loose ends on yarn projects AND loose ends coming from power cords and other various devices you may have in the craft room (sewing machine, TV, computer, etc). It’s unnecessary clutter! That dreaded c-word makes it almost impossible for me to devote time to being creative – if I see a mess, I am compelled to organize it.
This year I’ve been focused on making order of my craft chaos – the yarn is sorted, the crafting supplies are grouped and labeled, the tools are cleaned and organized, projects on the go live in one place, while finished projects ready for gifting live in another. It feels good to get it together.
One thing I did to make it easier to clean – get the mess of cables and wires off the floor. I did that using a handy dandy cord box from Gosh! Below is a before and after – it makes a difference to be able to set the Roomba free and not worry about it getting stuck in a mess of cables. It also looks neater.
Here are a few more items to help you get to it and organize and clean up your craft room:
And who could forget every crafter’s favorite organizer by way of IKEA, the RASKOG Utility Cart!
I embellished mine with LEDs and filled it with yarn – looks great! I wrote about it last year and to this day, I’m still in love with it.
Do you have a favorite item, tool or trick that helps you organize?

This is a very handy solution for managing loose cords and hiding odd or uneven cord lengths. I’m using mine to consolidate a computer work station and a TV/AppleTV. In the box I was able to fit a large powerbar plus cords for a computer, monitor, printer, AppleTV, TV and receiver. Design-wise, I like that the box has a neutral yet modern look – it easily integrates with any decor. In terms of quality, the box is made well and it’s simple to put together. There are instructions but you’ll likely be able to see what to do right away. The packaging is A+.
