“The Bad Artists Imitate, The Great Artists Steal” ~ Olek

I went to Olek’s new solo exhibition at Jonathan LeVine Gallery yesterday.

“Jonathan LeVine Gallery is proud to present The Bad Artists Imitate, The Great Artists Steal, new works by Polish-born, New York-based artist Olek, in what will be her first solo exhibition at the gallery. The Bad Artists Imitate, The Great Artists Steal features a site-specific installation with a new series of crochet sculptures and canvases. The title of the exhibition refers to a work created by world-renowned British street artist Banksy for his 2009 Bristol Museum show, in which he carved a quote by Pablo Picasso into stone, crossed out the late artist’s name and replaced it with his own.” Read more: http://bit.ly/qxubJL

The Curve of Your Spine

Amazing piece by estonia76 who says, “I needle-felted the spine out of undyed wool roving, with some darker shadows felted out of a random grey wool yarn. This is a custom order for a chiropractor’s office!”

Knob Cozy2

Made and shared by gardngrl who says, “I have a nickel allergy. A bad one. And all of the fixtures in my apartment are brushed nickel. So I’m on a mission to cover each of the knobs on all of the cabinets with these funny little cozies. What do you think?”

Does it work on Nickelback, cause I’m allergic to them.

the vegan voyeur: a tofu in disguise

… he’s watching you… not eat meat

This diorama was made by Nanae Ito, who says: “My hack utilizes the soft material of yarn and the cozy craft of crochet to create a diorama of a meat processing plant; a place that invokes feelings of clamminess, freezing temperatures, sterility, death, and blood.”
