In fact, if you go to her November 2009 photo set on flickr, you can see it being made.
Kiyoteru Hiyama is a Japanese vocaloid. What is a vocaloid?
Think Garageband for otakus. This Japanese software suite lets you plug in lyrics and melody and generates an “authentic-sounding” song via its music and vocal synthesizers. As you can see above, the software features a 16-year- old “Virtual Singer,” which croons out whatever disgustingly sweet (or just disgusting) lyrics you enter in (Japanese only, we’re assuming). It’s so popular in Nippon that it’s actually the #1 selling software on their Amazon. And for good reason—the songs they generate actually sound like it could have come from a generic teenaged anime. It took me a minute to figure out what these were! Zills are the finger cymbals often used in belly dancing. The word “zil” is Turkish for cymbal. Well, you learn something new every day.
Made by outlaw heart.

I just got this sweet email:
Hello there,
Came across your blog today (great design!) and thought this project on my blog might be of interest for your ‘musichack’ section? It’s a knitted version of Iggy Pop: http://knitanything.wordpress.com, no worries if not though!
All the best,
Sophia
He’s great! Of course we LOVE him. Thanks for sharing Sophia!
