Experimenting With Knitting As Local Communication in Essen, Germany

Experimenting With Knitting As Local Communication in Essen, Germany

Submitted by Mythagorie who explains, “this art project takes place in Essen, Germany. It is about using urban knitting for experimenting with a way of local communication. People can create a message for friends and combine it with symbols taken from the German folklore. A special website is used to inform about the meanings of the symbols and to send the message. The Designer creates a picture out of the chosen symbols and make a knitted piece out of it. After some days it will appear on a traffic light or street lamp close by.”
