Meet The Yarn That Generates Electricity When Stretched Or Twisted

This is amazing … Scientists at the University of Texas have created an electricity-generating yarn from woven carbon nanotubes and get this, they call it twistron.

I call it damn cool. When the carbon nanotubes squeeze together, they generate a small current – enough to power a small light! See it in action in the video below:

    strange – in winter I get the impression that most of my knitted socks are already made from this new material when getting electrical shocks by touching people 😉
