Do You Know About The Welcome Blanket Project?

Woven into the fabric of our country is a fundamental idea: our diversity, our multiple perspectives, and our personal stories make the United States great.

At its start, The Welcome Blanket Project project was designed to recast the 2000-mile distance of the proposed barrier wall between Mexico and the United States into 2000 miles of handmade blankets. A craft-based response to the former administration’s policies, the project exceeded its goal of 6000 Welcome Blanket packages.

Today, it’s a platform for engagement that transforms the abstract concept of immigration into a tangible crowd-sourced artistic action. Make a blanket and share your story as a gift to a new immigrant to the United States.
