21 Times David Bowie Was Immortalized in Yarn by Knitters, Crocheters & Fiber Artists

“The truth is, of course, that there is no journey. We are arriving and departing all at the same time.” – David Bowie

UPDATE 2022: This post is six years old and some links are broken and/or leading to nowhere. One day, I’ll update this post, but for now please enjoy the spirit of the work as it was shared when I first created this post.

I’ve been wanting to do a big David Bowie round-up since his passing and today’s the day. I’ve just watched Five Years, a documentary that explores five important years in David Bowie’s musical career and am feeling melancholy but also inspired. David Bowie is no stranger to yarn. In fact, he’s been the subject of many KnitHacker posts through the years – here, here, here, here, here, here and here.

13) David Bowie yarnbomb by London Kaye – I saw London at VK Live earlier this year and saw her amazing Aladdin Sane yarnbomb. She was thinking about what to do next and I suggested doing Kansai Yamamoto’s iconic black and white jumpsuit as a companion piece and look, she did it! I just love her work, such creativity and positive energy!
