Review: BenQ Genie e-Reading LED Desk Lamp – Special Discount Codes for KnitHacker Readers!

Last year, I reviewed the BenQ e-Reading LED Desk Lamp and I gave it five full stars (“great for your late-night knitting”) … and to this day, I use the lamp in my studio space every single day. I like it because it illuminates a wide area and it works well for a variety of projects under varying conditions. Sometimes I use it for quick product photography (using cooler tone settings), while other times it’s exactly the lighting I need to be working on my computer late into the night without straining my eyes (warmer tone settings). The lighting variables with this lamp allow for a lot of flexibility.

So I was really happy when the folks at BenQ asked me if I would like to review the BenQ Genie. Yes!

BenQ Genie

The BenQ Genie is also a great e-reading desk lamp. It’s recommended for use with a smaller monitor (less than 22″) and physically it’s a lighter lamp, weighing just over five pounds.

Although lighter and smaller, the BenQ Genie still offers many of the great features I’ve come to rely on, such as, wider lighting coverage than your average lamp. It can be switched from from warm tones for casual reading, to the cooler tones for concentration and work. In addition to mood settings, the lighting itself is designed for e-reading and as such, it reduces glare, is flicker-free (which means less headaches and migraines for those prone to them), and it’s designed to give you 50,000 hours of lifespan. That means you could use it for 8 hours a day over seventeen years!

The BenQ Genie has a built-in an ambient sensor so if you’re not sure about setting the lighting, it can automatically detect the light levels of the room and adjust its brightness accordingly – you just hold your finger on the control ring for a little longer than a tap. Lastly, let’s talk about angles – this lamp is really flexible! Its ball-joint, spring and solid weight make the set-up perfectly counterbalanced so you can really get the lighting angles you need.

I love the BenQ Genie and can’t recommend it enough. It’s perfect for your office or studio and would even make a great gift. I gave this one to my husband and he’s already loving the addition to his work/art studio.
