When I was a kid, I couldn’t wait to get my yearbook. All my friends would gather at lunch and recess, huddle around our yearbooks, swap and sign them. I still have all my yearbooks and one thing that stands out – there was really no designated place to share anecdotes or paste pictures and notes. We just signed the front and back pages, and on random pages throughout the book. I wonder how the practice would evolve if yearbooks were set up for this kind of social exchange?
The Story of the “My School Friends” Yearbook
Through Pig and Thin® is here to offer a new way to save precious memories with “My School Friends,” the first children’s yearbook book that is targeted specifically to children in kindergarten and early elementary school. Created by Stephanie Honikel, this personalized book offers a fun and easy way to cherish school memories. Originally from Germany, Honikel was inspired by the place of her own childhood where kids have been filling out this kind of memory book for years. She says that they’re very popular at reunions … and no wonder, what better way to rekindle memories than to have a good laugh at something you wrote as a child ….
Kids Can Be The Authors of Their Own Memories
Kids can document personal details, add pictures, stickers and color – it offers plenty of pages and activities for students. But don’t take it just from me, in the video below you’ll hear from a school principal and why she thinks the “My School Friends” yearbook is so special:
There’s even a spot for teachers to leave a special note for his or her student. Imagine as an adult now, how wonderful it would be to have a note from your teacher from 25 years ago! This is something that a child will always cherish for years and into adulthood.
