Recently I was given the opportunity to order custom labels for my knit and crochet projects from Dutch Label Shop. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but I had no idea where to start or the time to research it, so when the company reached out to offer me a sample order, I happily agreed! Before the company reached out, I’d been looking into private label manufacturers to satiate my labelling curiosity.
The process for setting up the label is easy peasy. First you select your label shape, and there are so many options – you can even request a custom shape! I decided to go with a classic look and chose a straight woven label with my custom logo. The process was easy once I got the graphic set-up correctly. At first I was trying to add too much text with a small font, but once that was adjusted, the proof looked good. Take your time with this part, you want your label to look good! But don’t worry too much, the quality control folks will reach out if they think there will be a problem with your design. In fact, they helped me to get my design just right.
Next you’ll select the label size using this fancy slider tool:
Then it’s on to color selection for the background and logo. The range of possibilities is impressive!
Next you’ll want to choose whether your label is sew-on or iron-on. For us fiber folks, I recommend sew-on.
And here it is, my own custom KnitHacker label courtesy of Dutch Label Shop – I love it!
I’ve already added them to a couple things, a hat for my son and a bright pink pussy hat that just shipped to Canada … fall orders are already coming in, so I know I’ll be using these labels a ton in the coming months and I’ll definitely order more!
