Butler … if you have not had the pleasure to read her work, well lucky you – you get to discover her for the first time and the timing is actually great since she is experiencing a renaissance at the moment. Read Parable of the Sower and you’ll know why this science fiction pioneer made the New York Times bestseller list last fall, years after her death. And if you’re already a fan, check out the Octavia Of Earth project, a documusical that focuses on Butler’s early years as a child and adolescent in Southern California, as a young adult struggling to find a path forward for her creative aspirations, and as an established author of critical renown but limited commercial success. Oh and if that’s not enough, Butler’s book Kindred was just picked up by FX Networks for a pilot. Can’t wait!
