Keep Yourself Busy in June With These Father’s Day Projects

It can be challenging to find the perfect gift for Father’s Day. It can also be challenging to find new and exciting knitting and crocheting projects. We are here to make combining your love for yarn with finding the ideal Father’s Day present much more straightforward. Whether you are planning to make a gift for your dad, husband, or favorite uncle, check out the ideas on our list below.

Something to keep them busy

Some people might be surprised to know that knitting is a full-on men’s hobby with a massive following. For this Father’s Day, why not put together a hobby kit, including the various types of knitting needles they can use, wool, and some fun patterns. Knitting can be a calming force for men that lead high-stress jobs. It is also a hobby that breaks traditional gender roles, which is essential to show our kids. Who knows, maybe they will love knitting so much that you can send them on a men’s knitting retreat next year.

Something to keep them warm

Father’s Day coincides with the onset of summer and sunshine. However, it also means more time spent outdoors and camping trips with the kids. Everyone needs a bright and colorful beanie to keep their head warm. These patterns are so fun that we wouldn’t be surprised if you find yourself making a matching set for the whole family. If your man is a bit more reserved, this flat cap might be more his style.

If you feel up for tackling a larger Father’s Day project, then get all of your wool together and make a blanket. We love afghans, even long before they came back into style. There is nothing as comforting as enveloping yourself in a handmade blanket where you know every stitch was lovingly made. It would make a fantastic gift for men that work away and often miss the warmth of home.

Something to make them smile

The best presents are those where you can see that they really took the time to consider what makes someone smile. If you have small children, you could convert their artwork into a wall hanging that all can enjoy for decades to come.

You might not be able to afford to give expensive presents like the latest motorbike or yacht, but this doesn’t mean that you can’t crochet one. Yamaha has put together a collection of free patterns and tutorials to keep you busy throughout June. We are confident that dads will love to have any of these pieces taking pride of place on their desk.

Lastly, we can’t discount reliable gifts such as socks and ties for Father’s Day. There is a reason that these have stood the test of time and are synonymous with dad gifts. Make it fun by knitting some cute shark socks that will have your toddlers in fits of laughter at bedtime.

Father’s Day is about remembering all of the men in our lives that help to raise our kids. Dads, grandfathers, stepdads, uncles, teachers, coaches, and pastors are all part of the village that helps mold our children into their best selves. Honor them all on Father’s Day and keep yourself busy with knitting projects all month long.
