“How I REALLY Feel.” Embroidered Fabric By Iviva Olenick

I met Iviva very briefly a couple years ago. She’s one of those magical storytellers who, once you meet, forever occupies a part of your brain – in a good way! Working in narrative and sculptural embroidery, her subject matter is quite varied, simultaneously fun and challenging. She shows in New York often but if you’re not in the area, her web site hosts a large gallery of her work.

This piece from 2012 is from her “POST-ITS/TWEETS” collection:

I’ll share more of Iviva’s thoughtful work in the future … and in the meantime check out The Brooklyn Love Exchange, Embroidered Confessions, and Embroidered Storytelling: Collaborative Art Making.
