Hello Piping Plover, You Magnificent Sea Rover!

July 2nd is Plover Day here in New York!

This Piping Plover family was masterfully made by hand by Jose Heroys who uses a mixture of crochet, needle-felt and my her invented techniques to bring her birds to life. She doesn’t sell patterns, but she does sell finished bird on Etsy and they’re gorgeous.

The Piping Plover can be spotted along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts and inland throughout the northern Great Plains. All populations are considered endangered or threatened because of man-made disturbance.
