MUST-SEE! 40ft Crocheted Nina Simone Mural, the Third Offering in Olek’s “Love Across the USA” Project

Nina Simone Mural

Mounted in Raleigh, NC with the help of over 120 volunteers, this portrait of NC-native and Rock’n’Roll Hall of fame nominee Nina Simone is huge at 40×20 feet! Each volunteer crocheted a 2×2 foot square to contribute towards the piece, which can now be seen at the Raleigh Convention Center.

Other murals in the series so far have included Harriett Tubman and Susan B. Anthony. Read more about the Nina Simone mural here, and about the community-made murals in general via Smithsonian Magazine … and be sure to follow the progress of Olek’s amazing “Love Across the USA” project here.
